TV Antennas - The Basics - Part 1

TV antennas are used to pull in local channels including free HDTV signals. There is no “one” antenna that will suit the reception needs of everyone everywhere, but there are ways to determine which antenna will be the best for you. You should select an antenna that will pick up channels within your local stations’ broadcast range. For example, if you are within 25 miles of a tower then a simple indoor antenna should give you acceptable reception. If there are large buildings or other obstructions in the path between your antenna and the tower, then you may need to look at a larger outdoor antenna as the extra height and strength will increase the number of stations you will pick up and their clarity.
